6.3 T OVERHEAD CRANES MOVED AND ADJUSTED

MIT was asked for exploration in the possibilities of moving 2 pieces 6.3 T overhead travelling cranes to another location. As a result of re-allocation of available production locations the 2 crane would be no longer required on the original location but needed in a different location.

MIT prepared and submitted a plan. The focus was on 2 adjustments:
The distance between the crane tracks on the 2 locations was different and so the crane beams of the overhead cranes had to be adjusted for the new size.
For the crane tracks on the intended location the heavier lifting capacity, had not been taken into account, so also here a revision was required.

Based on this, a plan was drafted to shorten the beams of both cranes including all implementing, material and welding details. Also the building construction containing the crane tracks was calculated in detail enabling to determine the necessary reinforcements, to make the crane track suitable for the higher crane loads.
The adjustments are realized according to plan very shortly thereafter. The 2 cranes were lifted off the crane tracks on the original location and transported to be shortened. Parallel to shortening the crane beams the structural parts for the strengthened crane tracks were made. Then in the new location the crane tracks were replaced and the 2 shortened cranes were installed and put into service.
