WHEELBOGIES DECK CRANE OVERHAULED

MIT has fully overhauled all 4 wheel bogies of a Bailey deck crane on a runway of 90m, on board of a dredger.

For this purpose the crane was supported on the port side and the two wheelbogies have been dismantled. The axles, wheels, bearings and space bushes have been renewed and several other parts have been mechanically altered. Afterwards, the entire structure has been mounted within about a week.

In addition, the same exercise has been done for the wheelbogies on starboard.

The guide wheels of the crane have been carefully adjusted to avoid unnecessary wear and to benefit for as long as possible from this revision.

With a total process time of 2 weeks, the ship’s crane and thus the ship was operational again soon.
